Battle of the Books Registration Now Open!

WSF is proud to bring Battle of the Books to Wicklund Elementary for it's 7th year!  This amazing program is free and open to all 2nd through 8th graders currently enrolled at Wicklund Elementary.

 

The event is simple!  Form a team, read through your grade-level group book list, and come prepared to answer questions about the books!  Questions are always asked in a manner that require the title of the book and author as the answer.  Depending on the size of the groups, there are multiple rounds culminating in a final battle of the top teams to determine the winner for each grade-level group. This year, we are excited to share that our winning team in each grade-level group will go on to battle the winning team at Altamont, Bethany, and Questa!

 

Battles will take the week of April 20th through 24th.  Until registration closes on January 31st, we will not be able to finalize the battle schedule.  The district battle will take place on Monday, April 27th, with the top team in each grade-level group from each participating site battling it out for bragging rights.  Once registration closes, we will look at the number of teams in each grade-level group, work out the schedule, and post it here for everyone to see.  You can see this year’s book lists HERE.

 

Registration is now open for this year’s battle.  You can register online HERE.  Registration closes at midnight on January 31st and absolutely no exceptions will be made, as it will impact our battle schedule.

 

 

Wicklund’s Battle Week:  April 20-24, 2026

District Battle:  April 27th

  • Each team must have four students from within the given grade-level group:  2nd Grade, 3rd through 5th grade, or 6th through 8th grade.  Multiple grades may make up a given team — for example, a team may have one third grader, two fourth graders, and one fifth grader — as long as they are all within the grade-level group.
  • The names of all team members are required in order for the registration to be complete.  The student must be associate with an active parent account in order to be added to the team.
  • A parent email for each team member must be included for registration to be complete.  This should be the email address of the parent for that student — not the same email address for all four teammates.
  • Only one registration per team, please.  If you need to make changes to your team, please post the request on the Battle of the Books Teams Community page.
  • A team name is required no later than January 31st.  All teams without names will be given the following name — Unnamed Team A/B/C and so on.
  • Only current Wicklund students are eligible to participate.
  • REGISTRATION CLOSES AT MIDNIGHT ON JANUARY 31ST.
  • NO LATE REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
  • ONCE A COMPLETE REGISTRATION IS RECEIVED (ALL TEAM MEMBERS AND PARENT EMAIL ADDRESSES), EACH TEAM MEMBER FAMILY WILL BE ADDED TO THE BATTLE OF THE BOOKS TEAMS COMMUNITY PAGE.  YOU WILL NOT HAVE ACCESS TO IT AND ANY RESOURCES CONTAINED THERE UNTIL WE HAVE A COMPLETE REGISTRATION.
